Beavers

Try new things. Make new friends. Joining Beavers is just the beginning of your big adventure.

When

Our Beavers Colony meets on a Thursday during term time from 6.15pm to 7.30pm

About Beavers

Every week in term time, we gather in a group called a Beaver Colony, to hop, skip and jump our way through lots of different games and activities – achieving anything we set our minds to, and having lots of fun along the way.

At 1st Eaton Bray and Edlesborough Beaver Scout Colony, we:

  • Master new skills and try new things
  • Have fun and go on adventures
  • Make friends
  • Are curious about the world around us
  • Help others and make a difference, on our own doorsteps, and beyond.

The colony is split into 4 Lodges, we have Red, Green, Yellow, and Blue and when you join, we put you in one of these. Lodges are a small group of Beavers and they stay together on trips away, camps, and during certain activities.

What we get up to

We aim to do a Winter and Spring Sleepover indoors, and under canvas Summer Camp. Some previous themes include International, Cowboys & Indians, Sci-fi & Space, and Jurassic Park.

Some exciting trips we have been on: Dunstable Town Bowls Club, Secret Animal Sanctuary, Luton Hoo Gardens, and Frogmore Paper Mill.

During out weekly meetings we do exciting activities such as cooking, crafting, acting, singing, playing games, learning new things, and giving things a go. We had some interesting evenings such as Yoga, learning about Bees, First Aid, Dog Safety, Disability Awareness, Fire Lighting to name but a few.

Our colony also joins up with other colonies from Dunstable District for St. George’s Day celebrations, Beaver Activity Days, and we also visit theme parks, museums etc.
